Church Bells
Bellringing at St Peter's Church Practice Night: Tuesday 7.30-9.00 Sunday Service Ringing: Second Sunday 10:00am, and for occasional extra services.  Tower Captain: Nick Parkes (email: nickparkes@btinternet.com The current group of some 10 ringers was formed in July 2006. There is a happy and relaxed atmosphere at our weekly practice and we welcome new recruits and visitors. The 6 bells are widely acknowledged to be one of the most pleasant rings in the area. They were rehung and augmented in 1952 by Taylors of Loughborough. Our oldest bell was cast by Henry Oldfield of Nottingham in 1606.   Most of our ringers are members of the North Notts District of the Southwell and Nottingham Diocesan Guild of Church Bell Ringers (http://www.southwelldg.org.uk/) and we regularly ring at other local churches.
At Christmas time, some of our group ring carols on handbells for the carol service - and also in the Blue Bell Inn! In 2008 we released a CD recording to raise funds for the church:  East Drayton Handbell Ringers "Christmas Bells" CD 1 As With Gladness, Men Of Old 2 Good King Wenceslas 3 Jingle Bells 4 See Amid The Winter’s Snow 5 I Saw Three Ships Come Sailing In 6 The Moon Shines Bright 7 Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day 8 It Came Upon The Midnight Clear 9 Joy To The World 10 Ding Dong Merrily On High 11 This Is The Truth Come From Above 12 The Sussex Carol 13 Past Three O’Clock 14 Earth Has Many A Noble City 15 The Seven Joys Of Mary 16 Quem Pastores Laudavere 17 O Come, All Ye Faithful 18 We Wish You a Merry Christmas 19 East Drayton Church Bells: Norwich Surprise Minor
